I was just a bit wound up after seeing the Harry Potter film last night. The upshot of this is that I only ended up getting five and a half hours sleep.
This shouldn’t be a big problem as I often only get six and a half. However that extra hour seems to make all the difference. I feel really tired today, I would just like to go and have a lie down.
Lesson for the afternoon - energy is not always a renewable resource.

I have had an offer from some people to use their recording studio if I wanted to. It is a professional setup (inasmuch as they recorded their own professional release there) and they have offered me a chance to use it because I have done a few things for them.
I am not sure what song I would record there.
Lesson for the day - it never raynes but it pours recording options.

My brother refuses to read Harry Potter even though his wife loved the books and is sure he will too. I think he is just being stubborn because they are just so bloody popular. I can understand his suspicion of the incredibly popular but I think that this is one of those rare intersections of popularity and quality.
Lesson for the day - you can lead a man to Potter but you can’t make him drink.

Of all days this is the one when I cannot publish. Ho hum.
Lesson for the day - you can’t always blog when you want.

Last night Nicky, Ned and I went off to see Harry Potter at the Werribee mutliplex.
Luckily the Mark O’Meara Principle of the Opening Night held true and we had no trouble getting tickets. However by the time the film started there were probably less than 20 empty seats in the cinema.
Before the film the showed the Star Wars trailer. The first half of it was just wet but the second half was just exciting.
Harry Potter itself was everything I had hoped it would be. I am glad that I got to see it before I heard people talking about it too much.
Lesson for the day - It’s a pretty good film that you enjoy after such a build up.

I just got notice that I will not have FTP access to my site for a couple of days sometime in the next week.
That means no blog updates.
With any luck it will be this weekend as I rarely post on the weekends anyway.
Lesson for the day - there is no good time to do without your blog.

Tim was wondering about other Tim Hackett song writers.
Here’s one, he’s about a hundred feet tall. I think I could tell them apart.

In response to Tim’s broad hints I am going to sign up for APRA. I looked at it in the past but it was quite complicated when you wrote songs with people who are not in APRA.
But now you can do all sorts of things online which helps. In addition I know have enough songs that I wrote myself that it might be worth doing.
Lesson - sometimes the world doesn’t encourage co-operation.

I went and did a little Christmas shopping at lunch time today. I am hopiing to have all my shopping done well in advance of the actual day.
When i worked in retail (a long time ago now) it was never all that busy leading up to Christmas. It was busier than normally but rarely did it get so busy that people had to wait much longer than normal. Having said that the only times I have been back into the store I worked at they have been horribly understaffed so quite a long was just normal.
Lesson for the day - things really were different when I was younger. really.

I have a day of phone conferences and frankly that’s just not something that grabs me.
Most of these involve far too many people speaking and far too little structure. You would think that a conference call would work better than this but it just doesn’t. Given that travel is becoming more and more difficult to get permission for this is no doubt the way of the future.
Bah humbug!
Lesson for the day - I am pro-phone but in person is always better.
