Well it took a bit of messing around with the phone but Shannon and Sarah have finally spoken to one another.
I figure this gives them a better chance of actually meeting up while Sarah is in Oregon.
Lesson for the day - we are all only six blogs of separation apart.

Someone has also put a lot of work in the Landover Baptist site. It took me a few second to realise it was parody.
I am astonished and impressed but the number of high quality parody sites out there.
Lesson - I would join their baptist church but I rarely play my electric guitar.

As I mentioned I had lunch with Sandi. Sandi and I worked on the same floor a few years back and she is quite mental. In a good and pleasant way but mental nevertheless.
Lesson for the day - it is important to have role models.

On my way too and from lunch with Sandi I passed the Victorian Police Band in the plaza playing pop songs.
There was a large crowd surrounding them and only about half were giggling so I suppose that’s a pretty good outcome for them.
I know have a much better appreciation of why people turn to drugs.
Lesson for the day - I would suggest spoken word but have met police officers.

I have taken a formatting idea from Ned’s blog.
It’s the time stamp at the top of each post.
Lesson for the day - plagariasm is the most sincere form of innovation.

While I am on the topic, another thing than annoys me is people telling me something ten times in a row. I don’t mean being reminded of things or retelling stories, I don’t mind either of these things.
What I do mean is someone who has a point to make (as often as not a simple statement of their opinion). They say it once and then proceed to tell you it again and then one or two more times just for emphasis.
I suspect I only make matters for such people as they seem to be under the impression that they are being persuasive. However hearing the same thing again and again does not win me over. It just annoys me. Perhaps they think that I am the calibre of fool that requires simple ideas expressed again and again in order for me to grapple with them.
I don’t mind people rewording things in another way, in fact I often need this to fully understand the point that someone as made. But chances are that if I didn’t go for an idea the first time around then exactly the same words are not likely to be any more effective on a second pass.
Lesson for the day - persuasion is a delicate art.

I am staggered by the way that some people speak to one another.
It is not that I often see people being cruel as such but I do see some people speaking in a careless and dismissive manner. I realise that some people are happy to give the benefit of the doubt. But I am not one of them.
If I speak dismissively to someone it is because I am dismissing them. It’s not rocket science.
Lesson for the day - the selection of those against you is far more important than choosing your allies.

It would appear that I am the last blogger standing. All of the other ones I read have really dropped off in terms of traffic recently.
There was, of course, a time before I read them all so this should be no great adjustment. But it feels like it is.
I am never aware of feeling especially balanaced. It is only when I am thrown a little of centre that I recognise that whatever came before it must have been normality. Likewise when I am sick I don’t remember even having been especially well but I know that I didn’t always feel that bad.
Lesson for the day - comparison is all we have.
