Almost time to go home. No idea what I will play at the Yak tonight.
Lesson for the day - sometimes it’s like that.
I was practicing Dirty Young Man and Nicky told me that it sounded like I was singing “Once was younger than a ham”.
In fact I was trying to sing “Once was younger than I am”.
Lesson for the day - it’s a bit of fun to have a misheard lyric.
We are meant to be having a team lunch today for someone leaving. I think it is meant to be a bbq in the park but it looks a bit chilly out there.
Lesson for the day - sometimes you have to love with chilly.
Well the good news is that the blinding headache of last night is pretty much gone.
And in its place I have a sore throat.
Lesson for the day - winner winner chicken dinner.
There is a series on the tv I really liked called Howard Goodall’s Big Bangs. It explains all sorts of musical things in terms that even I can understand. This is a pretty neat trick.
Anyhow it turns out that there is a book of this series and it’s only about $25. I might just have to toodle off and see if I can find it later this week. Maybe I will be less musically dumb at the end.
Lesson for the day - good quality content is exciting.
Yesterday I was feeling pretty ordinary. I didn’t think that it was as bad as it could get, or put another way, I knew it could be worse.
Today I think it is worse.
Lesson for the day - it’s good to have somewhere to go.
I am trying to change my template but blogger pro is not playing nice. I suppose this is not a huge surprise, even software that you pay for will break sometimes.
Lesson for the day - money doesn’t buy everything.
If you don’t own a copy of Tea for the Tillerman then you should go out and buy one right now. That’s right, before lunch.
I had never given Cat Stevens two thought but now I cannot image not having this music to listen to.
Lesson for the day - buy buy buy.
Spurred on my the various colums linked from blogs I thought that I would mention that I am just eating a really nice cookie that I just bought at the caf.
I tire of articles complaining that weblogs are just full of people commenting on what they ate and what they think. Certainly waffling about such things is unlikely to gain you a large readership (as far as I can tell Tim and Nicky and the only ones reading) but my blog is not about reaching a mass audience. I suspect most peoples are not either.
If truth be told I don’t have anything to say to a mass audience, and that’s no big shortcoming as far as I am concerned. If nothing else writing all this down gives me a bit more texture in my life and I may find it interested in read in years to come (provided I am smart enough to keep copies some place).
The cookie was wrapped in plastic and looked pretty ordinary. They didn’t have any honky buns so I bought it anyway. It turned out to be really nice. It had bits of dried fruit and nuts and was just plain tasty.
Lesson for the day - sometimes a cookie is just a cookie.
Well John from down the street dragged his electric and bass guitar down for a visit last night.
For someone who claims to be just learning he plays lead as well as many people I see at open mics. Anyhow we had a bit of fun with the keyboard (which he also plays) and hopefully we will do it all again next week.
I also gave him a rough burn of Non Schmick so that he can think about some bass for it.
Lesson for the day - it’s nice to get to play a bit of a weeknight.
