Mark O’Meara: the blog

Now that my email is working properly I am certainly getting more emails. However most of them are spam, sixteen in the last batch.

Lesson for the day - you have to take the spam with the good.

This morning Tim and I worked on some tracks for the album. Just to prove that I can be taught Tim worked wonders as he has a chance to rehearse and create some parts for the songs.

I just assumed he could produce wonderful sounds on demand. Actually he can, but when he has some prep time it is even more wonderful.

We finished off Ringo and Country Matters which is pretty damn exciting. They don’t sound like Mark O’Meara songs at all, they sound quite musical.

I do have another 15 or so tracks to record before I am finished but it is starting to take shape.

Lesson for the day - shape is good.

I am setting up my old mac for Mum to use. We have it as a second computer here but it literally never gets used. It’s not as sexy as the iMac but then so many things are not.

Lesson for the day - sexy isn’t everything.

For no good reason I was thinking about people projecting motives onto other people.

Lesson for the day - It is hard enough to work out your own motivation much less someone else’s.

I didn’t go to the Yak last night, I just couldn’t be bothered.

Lesson for the day - sometimes that is a good enough reason.

Today we went to bendigo to see my Mum. Most excitingly of all the puppies got to spend the afternoon with Tess.

Lesson - Life is just a bit exciting when you’re a dog.

The official Kasey Chambers website now has chords for her songs on it. How very progressive and good.

Lesson for the day - it is good publicity for people to play your songs.

Getting stuff home in secret is tricky when you commute together. Nicky has to work out how to get my Easter eggs home.

Luckily I have already achieved the corresponding feat but I’m not telling how, that would only spoil it.But I will give you all a hint. It involved three paper clips, an infra-red camera, an anamatronic dolphin, and a small amount of string.

Lesson for the day - It never works without the string.

I am in two minds about going to the Yak Open Slather tonight.

If I don’t go I will probably regret it in a few days. On the other hand I am quite tired and could do without some of the preciousness that I run into every now and then.

Lesson for the day - dilemas come in all sizes.

I like to keep my work email so that the inbox fits on one screen. When it gets bigger than that I get the feeling that things might just be getting a bit out of hand.

Currently it is about a screen and a half so I regard this as well and truly out of hand. I really need to go through and delete, files and respond but this is easier said that done.

Lesson - sometimes email is not your friend.
