Sadly Nicky’s blog will be gone for a few days while the registration goes through.
It would seem that some minor functionary was not keeping an eye on the registration and changed his email address since the site was last renewed.
Lesson for the day - a year can be pretty quick.
Well blogger was down for ages but now it’s back. And I have no idea what I wanted to say.
Lesson for the day - if you can’t remember then the chances are it was not that important in the first place.
The screen on this work laptop starts the day a bit dark and flickery. Each morning I wonder if it is just that I sit next to a window that gets the morning sun and I am just imagining it.
Happily the screen gets brighter over the first hour or so and is quite usable for the bulk of the day.
Lesson for the day - sometimes it is better just to wait.

I saw a few minutes of Bob Brozman on the telly this morning and he really made that shit work.

Yesterday, after a slow start, we decided to go and see the new Ikea in Richmond. For some reason we thought it was near the freeway. Eventually we worked out where it was and how to get into the car park.
A bit like the new bit of the plaza near us they have opened the largest shops while most of the construction is still going on. No doubt this makes good economic sense but it can be just the smallest bit confusing for the actual punter.
Anyhow we saw all sorts of cute little things (you always go at Ikea) and bought ourselves a little bookshelf to put our dvds in. It was about 20 kilos so we had a trolley. Here the real fun began.
They let you have a trolley. You can leave the store with the trolley. But you can’t leave the pickup area and actually take stuff to your car in the trolley.
So I went and fetched the car but because the car park is not finished it’s not immediately obvious how to get to the Ikea pickup area. Happy the have a blue line you can follow all the way. Unhappily they had about 15 people standing on the line at various points trying to persuade you that you don’t actually want to follow it. A couple of them had not even heard of Ikea much less their pickup area and seemed quite determined that I either needed to park in the spot they indicated or leave the complex.
In the end I did get there to pickup Nicky and the bookshelf.
Lesson for the day - you are better off going to the old Ikea.
Not surprisingly my second day actually at the office has been a bit busy.
Oh well.
Time to go in a minute.
