Here I Am

23 05 2003

Well here I am on the new page. It probably looks pretty similar but there you have it.

If you want to access older entries you’ll need a username and password but I’ll be sending those out soon. It you want yours now give me a quick call.

Lesson for the day - sometimes you have to ask.

A Second Entry

23 05 2003

I actually wrote this second but needs to make it look like it came first to test something.

Lesson for the day - like you lot care.

Stay Tuned

22 05 2003

My site will be acting funny for a couple of days.

Then I will be back. Most probably even at this exact url.

If all else fails just go from markomeara.net

Lesson for the day - see you all soon.

A Big Hello

21 05 2003

And a big hello to the single person who downloaded a copy of each of my songs from mp3.com.au

You interest is most appreciated and frankly flattering. While all failed folk singers claim a desire for obscurity it is true that every one of them actually wants just someone to be taking notice of what they did.

So thanks for noticing.

Lesson for the day - being not talked about it worse.

Down Time

21 05 2003

There is a pretty good chance that my blog will actually disappear for a few days so all four of you will have a smallish hole in your reading patterns.

Happily I am confident that you have enough other things going on your life that it won’t be that big a deal.

Lesson for the day - now you all have four arms.

Catch 22

21 05 2003

There are times you can win out of things are there are times when that is just plain crazy talk.

Often in the latter situation it is also quite impossible to tell that you are in it.

On a brighter note the book Catch 22 is crackingly good and you should read it if you haven’t already.

Lesson for the day - somethings could only contain truth.

Guilty Pleasure

21 05 2003

I do know that the A Mighty Wind Soundtrack is a parody but I am actually quite enjoying it.

It is gently taking the piss out of all sorts of folk music but they are still catchy little tunes and well produced.

Lesson for the day - somethings are more than you expect.

You Should Do…

21 05 2003

I am reluctant to push that capo any futher down the neck than I have to. Just seeing a capo makes lots of musicans nervous and they often then feel compelled to tell me why I shouldn’t use one.

Tim was suggesting to me that I should raise the pitch of With My Dog to make it easier to sing and I must admit I was cautious at first. But this morning I played Famous to Fifteen People with the capo up an additional fret and it did make it easier to sing. So perhaps the Dog song is next.

Lesson for the day - advice is worth trying once.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

21 05 2003

I can take or leave most of what Queen did but I have quite a soft spot for Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

Lesson for the day - nostalgia can be hard to shake.

Playing To Type

21 05 2003

I am thinking about using Movable Type instead of Blogger in the near future.

That and a new host would allow me to do some snazzy things such as publish my archives in a password protected area and have stable comments.

However I am looking at the documentation and it is really much more complicated than Blogger (about twenty times more) and there is some question about my level of technical ability and understanding.

Lesson for the day - taking a leap of faith takes quite some faith.
