Inline Comments

I first put the comments into my general page because I found that bananas made for a great deal of my own interest in my blog and I got sick of the click-wait-read-close-click-wait-read-close… trick.

Some of you have them because I put them in your template and many people worked them out them yourselves (and probably quite independently of me having the idea).

But now is just seemed strange to go to blogs that don’t have them. I have to click to read part of this story? It just seems clumsy and all quite manual.

Given that I am sure I was not the first one to do this I think I am safe is saying that a good idea is one you quickly wonder why some people are not doing.

Lesson for the day - it is about people rather than code.

And Suddenly A Bright Side

For all my talk of flat days we are having fish and chips for dinner.

Fish tastes good. Chips taste good.

Lesson for the day - the puppies are happy to know that I don’t eat dog either.

Better Days

It is probably fair to say that although I have not been to work in months, have watched two episodes of Buffy and had an afternoon nap, I have had better days.

Nothing specific or horrible, just a general flatness. But tomorrow is a whole other story and some of you will be back to see how that goes.

Lesson for the day - constant happiness is no less creepy than constant sorrow.

Missed It By That Much

When push came to shove I had time to go to part of the lunch today but Nicky was not feeling great and, when it came down to it, I was not feeling so great myself.

So I stayed home to help with Finn although I then spent the next two hours out cold on our bed.

Lesson for the day - there is little value in fighting a baby’s timetable.

By my reckoning Nicky has now had almost four hours sleep which has to be some sort of recent record.

I figure I can handle the next feed with expressed milk so she can keep sleeping.

In other news Zelda Pop is sitting here helping me look at the internet. Cosmo is wandering around wondering why the hell I have not let him out. The puppies are out because the were being noisy when they were in.

Lesson for the day - brought to you by weet-bix.

O Canada Girls

This is the bonus track on the special edition of Dar Williams’ album The Green World. It is probably my favourite track on the record.

In terms of favourite Dar records it would be pretty close between The Honesty Room and The Beauty Of The Rain.

Lesson for the day - “I did not dream who would you be” - Dar.

And Counting

Well so far Finn and I have let Nicky get three hours straight sleep. I figure we will be lucky to make it to four but even three can make all the difference.

Lesson for the day - you feel so much better after three hours sleep than two.

Less News At Eight

Baby Finn is starting to grumble so I’d better get this bottle happening.

Lesson for the day - tram goes past.

Back Baby, Back In Time

Finn and I have been up watching telly since about six this morning.

He has been unsettled and I thought that perhaps Nicky could do with a couple of hours of actual sleep.

So we watched the first ever episode of Buffy. I have seen this one before but I had forgotten just how young they all looked. And also how much they played up Buffy being leggy and chesty. Still it was good dumb fun.

Lesson for the day - dvds store images better than memory does.

Minor Twists

Last night I thought that since Nicky and Finn were doing pretty well I might go to the Yak and interact with the outside world for an hour or so. Not that there is anything wrong with the inside world but it is nice to interact with both from time to time.

En route I called Coffee Bean who thankfully met me there. The place was quite busy with someone’s birthday so it was all a bit different. The people there were not interested in the open mic but they were having fun which is more than you can say for a lot of open mic nights.

Highlights were having my mind read by Coffee Bean (I am much less mysterious than I imagine) and playing Johnn’s pre-war Martin. I felt a bit cheeky asking to play it but I gave him every opportunity to politely decline and I was both careful and gentle. While I will never have the ready cash to own such a thing it was nice to have a chance to play one.

Lesson for the day - you never know what Thursday holds.
