We seem to have a couple of frequent users for the farkenace page from Canada and Hong Kong. I figure the Canada stats are probably Alex. But does anyone know who the Hong Kong ones might be? Does anyone on farkenace have friends there that we know of?

I know that I am missing a point here and it is just possible that being white, straight, male, and middle class is a factor here.
I don’t get exclusive clubs for men only. I don’t get mother’s groups rather than parents groups. I don’t get why my attending a bluehouse show is a hostile act. I don’t get bands were you have to be a specific gender or orientation to join. I do get why you might need to have talent or spirit however. I don’t get how men studying teaching is an insult to women.
I am not trying to be provocative or anything. I just don’t understand locking the door on people based on bit they do or don’t have and frankly don’t actually use in these settings anyway.
Lesson for the day - I can understand excluding dense people like me, they are just annoying.
Speaking to a couple of people got me thinking about playing music live. Perhaps it is not all that important that no bastard sees me when I play. Perhaps it is not all that important that I basically don’t develop at all as a performer. Certainly it is not all that important that now and then I have a bad night.
Perhaps the fact that I sometimes actually go and do this provides some kind of hope for other, and often more talented, people. If Mark is silly enough then anything is possible. That sort of thing.
Perhaps.
Lesson for the day - discuss.
I am thinking that perhaps we should have a bit of a music afternoon perhaps one Sunday. Tim could bring some of this many stringed instruments, I could bring my guitar, Helen could bring hers, Coffee Bean could bring guitar or keyboard, Joanna could bring her new keyboard, Kristen could bring her guitar and mando. I hope I have not missed anyone.
Perhaps we could just sit around and play each other a few songs. People could join in where they imagine it might be appropriate. What do people think?

Slowly but surely all the humans in our house are coming down with this cold. Nicky is the worst affected and barely slept at all last night.
The Funster has a nasty cough so he is going to the doctor today. I am not sure they will be able to do much but it is worth asking.
But the week is almost over, thank Trevor for that.

I was speaking to Fee, my sister in law, who sometimes reads my blog.
Fee: but I don’t understand the bit out of the book.
Mark: the book?
Fee: yeah. bits that look like you have copied large bits out of a book. are you writing a book?
Mark: err, I don’t think so. Other people do copy large bits of books into their blogs but not me.
Fee: Oh well, I’ll have another look.
So she is going to tell me which bits she means. If I could be bothered reading the nonsense I write then I would go back and look for the offending material.
Lesson for the day - people write and people read. and sometimes they happen on an understanding. but mostly they don’t.
I could be doing school work this week. I even volunteered at the local school. But they didn’t get back to me.
But I have decided to have the week off. I will still do household things but other than that I am just going to be slack.
Lesson for the day - even the fundamentally lazy need a break.

I suppose when it all comes down to it the question is “would I do anything different if I could do it all again?”.
And the answer is that although I have done some damage to myself and others I still ended up here and now and I can’t think of anywhere else I’d want to be.
Lesson for the day - it was be nice to pick and choose but the reality is a different road would have taken you a different place.
So I am standing talking to two music legends and pretending I don’t care. And we are talking about missing simple things. She says that she loves the bit in Austin Powers where he didn’t pick that Liberace was gay.
I say that I had to be told about the Dog Palms instead of duck ponds. I mentioned that I had never heard of a type of palm called the dog palm.
She tells me that there is no such thing, she just personally thinks that palms always look kind of dog-eared and that’s where it came from.
