On The Move

30 06 2004

Well there have been a couple of bids on our set-top box on ebay. We won’t get anything like the purchase price back (they have become much cheaper) but anything will be good.

Lesson for the day - bid, you bastards, bid!

A Cookie Always Helps

30 06 2004

Nicky went to the dentist and the Funster and I came into town with her. We wandered around looking at shops for about an hour and a half but happily we had help from Finn’s friend Mrs Fields. One of her cookies lasted him about an hour and kept him fully amused.

While he Dymocks me nearly choked on it but asked for it back all the same when the spluttering had passed. That is devotion to a cookie.

Lesson for the day - boys like their little treats when they are out.

Indy You Can Drive My Car

30 06 2004

Nicky and I saw an old Mustang on the road and realised that it had the driver on the left and no-one on the right. Usually they have a Left Hand Drive sign on them but not this time.

Needless to say it was a little odd driving behind this car at first.

Then I thought how good it would be to sit on the right side and play guitar or read the paper, that should fuck with people.

But Shannon came up with the best idea, sit Indiana on the right side.

Lesson for the day - nine miles to the next turn off, two big ears but not a brain, now we’re driving home, and I’m with my dog again.

Hold The Penguin

30 06 2004

Yesterday at Fiona and John’s they did a fabulous thing for lunch for us all. On the counter were some focaccia and a heaps of tasty ingredients such as fried eggs, bacon, chicken (which, oddly, tastes just like chicken), cheese, salami and various vegetables that I left for the vegetarians (not wanting to be too greedy).

Once you made your focaccia it went off into the Special Focaccia Toaster and got turned into yummy warm lunch.

It was a great idea. Kind of like make-your-own pizza but less messy.

Lesson for the day - I may not come up with ideas but I know a good one when I see/taste it.

Public Declarations Of Affection

29 06 2004

At some stage, hopefully years off yet, I will up and die. It is possible the Nicky might beat me to it although I certainly hope not. And it is possible she will get a better offer, there are some damn fine men out there.

But, one way or the other, my time with her is limited. And in that limited time I will tell her that I love her to bits more times that she would ask to hear. And I will tell you bastards the same thing. And perhaps this makes me a crank or a suck. But I don’t plan to go to whatever my fate is and have held back on saying it.

Now this doesn’t mean that I think a single other person should do as I do. I am not making decision for you characters on this one, just for me. So what I do might make you uncomfortable or sick or bored or kind of itchy but this blog is the record I leave. It has shit about movies, school, people and people I love. It is not the whole story but it is certainly the story the way I choose to tell it.

Lesson for the day - my weirdness is mine, my blog is mine, but all four of you are very welcome to read and take part.

Seeing Babies and Full-Size People

29 06 2004

Today we had a lovely trip to see Fiona, baby James, John, Sean, Emma and little baby Bridie. It felt like we were driving forever on the way but it always does whenever we cross the bridge.

And we all had a lovely time. It was great to see the babies, they just seemed so small. It was good to see the adults too although the seemed ever so large.

But sadly we had to bring a boy home for dinner and bed.

Lesson for the day - It was all good.

The Hours

29 06 2004

Well I am at Uni again on Mondays and Thursdays which is a Good Thing Indeed because that is when we have child-care for the Funster. Mondays we will actually be doing stuff in a primary school (how exciting) and Thursdays being a two hour lecture and then a two hour tute.

Lesson for the day - I am an Arts students at heart, four contact hours in a day seems extreme.

In Case I Forgot To Mention It

28 06 2004

I live with a lovely woman called Nicky who is clever and beautiful beyond description. Together we have a baby boy called Finn. We are not sure how clever he it yet (but everything he does seems every so clever to us) but he sure is beautiful.

I am quite certain that this might look like shameless sucking up to both of them but this blog is as close to a record as I will leave and it would hate to get hit by a bus and not have made this all perfectly clear.

Lesson for the day - some things are better left unsaid but others there is simply not good reason not to say.

Sitting By The Dock and eBay

28 06 2004

I have bought this and that on eBay but I have never sold anything on it before. Now I am sure that it is a good service but actually listing something is a slow and error-prone process.

However now it is done so hoorah for eBay and let’s see if we can get rid of our set-top box.

If this goes well then other unused bits and bobs will be steadily sold also.

Lesson for the day - sell sell sell.

Moofie Star

28 06 2004

I have just made the Funster’s new moofie which is his eight month one. Each time I make one of these I think he will not be doing enough new to justify three minutes of video and each time I am spectacularly wrong.

I think he might have four or five little movies so far and each one seems like a lifetime ago. The iMac has just been fantastic for making movies, managing photos and blogs.

Lesson for the day - I know I could have a PC but then I would have a less documented Finn.
