For reasons that utterly escape me the front page of farken ace is utterly devoid of any entries. The most recent entry on the installation is from my Dad but there is nothing there that would make the page wig out.
I don’t expect that this entry is a substitute for solving it but I am hoping that it might just magically work.
Lesson for the day - sometimes it is important to believe in magic.
It is the end of the year. In a fashion it seems like it started just moments ago and in other ways 2004 feels like it has been my whole life. And nothing massive has happened this year. There were no babies concieved, no babies born, no jobs lost, nothing like that.
But it has been the year I have come closest to just not coping with day-to-day life. Thankfully this has passed, hopefully for good. But the practical realisation of how slender my hold on functioning is has been a sobering one.
All the same it has been a good year on many other fronts and I have heaps to be thankful for. Nicky is, as always, intelligent, caring and lovely. Foozley continues to be a terrific kid and far more joy than work. The puppies adoration keep me going when it is tempting to just stop and the pusscats distain, well, it just a part of life.
Lesson for the day - goodbye 2004.
I’ve had a ton of stuff going on, but wanted to be sure to get back to you and say thank you for keeping me in the blog circle and doing all the management - I really do appreciate it. It makes this little black duck (to use one of your terms) feel a lot closer to some good people.
This is very much the sort of email that I like to get. Not that I expect it from everyone but it is nice to get it from someone.
Lesson for the day - sometimes you need to hear thanks for the mundane things you do.
It was nice to sit on the newly leveled ground at the Alpine retreat and take in the pleasures on offer. I played a few songs with the Wily One and Coffee Bean. Chatted with Danya and Lunchbox. Did my best to respond appropriately when children asked me cryptic questions. That sort of thing.
Lesson for the day - a long sit is certainly worth a short drive.
At long last the plum tree in the backyard is producing actual plums. It has only been there about two or three years and was probably too small before now.
And now that there are plums dogs feel it is their duty to remove said plums from the tree. The Indiana keeps them on her bed to make sure they are nice and safe. Which is what a plum needs of course.
Lesson for the day - Indiana takes guarding things very seriously.
This is the time of year when no-one, as opposed to my standard five people, is reading. Which is ok.
People are on holidays or just taking it easy. It is sunny outside here (at last) and there are better things to do.
Lesson for the day - even quiet blogs have especially quiet times.
I am a bit behind in Foozley’s fourteen month video, actually a couple of weeks. However I just didn’t think I had enough footage so I decided to cash in on Christmas footage and work that in.
Now that I am actually editing I have found that I have heaps and heaps of footage and that he is doing tonnes of stuff he wasn’t two months ago. Just tonnes of it.
I will wait until I get the raw footage cut down to the gems before I decide if this will just be a tight three minutes or a normal video plus a seperate Christmas one.
Lesson for the day - little kids do new things faster than you imagine.
As a point of clarification there are something like twenty blogs on my installation of movable type and I don’t expect any form of compensation from most of those bloggers. Some rarely use it. Others have pretty limited income. I really only mentioned it because some peope will want to do something and I would rather set them in the right direction.
Lesson for the day - people generally know what works for them.
It seems to me that the most direct way of letting people know you are a fool is to speak with great confidence and authority on every subject.
Lesson for the day - it is not always dumb to remain silent.
In account of the front page of farken ace falling in a hole I decided that I was going to move to the new version of Movable Type. I had put this off for a while on account of it being something that costs money, $A130 to be exact.
I am not asking people to contribute to this cost but those of you who work might like to just off your own bat. If this is something you would like to do then perhaps a Lincraft voucher for Nicky or clothing for Foozley would be a good thing to buy. Nothing too expensive of course, the whole operation doesn’t set me back all that much.
Rather than do an upgrade to the existing installation (something I now know I should have done) I did a new install and migrated everyone over. That means some people have a slightly new look now. If you don’t like yours then firstly try to make it how you like it and, failing that, contact me.
All farken ace bloggers should have the new url and their username and password in their email but if not let me know.
Also we have farken ace moofie reviews. If you want to write some of these and I have not already added permission for you then get in touch.
During the migration I found about three thousand spam comments across the various blogs. I have deleted many of them now. From now on all entries over two weeks old will require the comments to be moderated. These will show up in your own Movable Type pages so have a look from time to time.
Lesson for the day - I hate new software most of all.
