Off The Blog

30 04 2005

Like other people there are things I don’t blog about at all. This might not be all of them but it is a list.

- me having sex or which of my superhero costumes I was wearing at the time.
- anything that could be taken badly at a school I am at.
- things that might upset Nicky or hurt her feelings.
- things that will upset any friends or hurt their feelings.
- which of my superhero costumes fits me the best.

So if you are reading and waiting for any of these things then sorry but you’ll have no joy even when I do.

Lesson for the day - even a show-off needs limits.

How About The Serenity

28 04 2005

The exciting product news just keeping on coming, the trailer for Serenity is online now. For those who don’t know this is the Firefly movie. For those who didn’t see it the first hundred times I mentioned it Firefly is probably one of my all time favourite tv shows.

Now I just have to wait for September.

Lesson for the day - with Hitchhikers Guide, Revenge of The Sith and now Serenity this ia big year for nerds.

Good News About Mr C

28 04 2005

Rad and Andy’s dog Mr C is resting after his operation and will be recovering back to his bouncy self very soon now.

Just thought people might like to know.

Lesson for the day - recovering puppies are much better than inexplicably sick ones.

Let There Be Music

28 04 2005

I just read that the iTunes store for Australia will be open any day now. Not that I expect to buy a lot of music but if I did this is certainly one way I would.

Especially when I am makings Finn’s movies I think of a song I don’t have. Previously I haven’t bought whole albums just to get the song. But if I can spend $1.80 to get it then I will.

Lesson for the day - mostly I want albums but sometimes just a song is all I will pay for.

Day, Err, Seven At School

28 04 2005

Today was my third day of doing a lessons and my seventh full day at the school. While the teachers just do about their business it is generally a friendly place and I look forward to each day there. I do get a little nervous about the lessons I take but that’s to be expected.

I have really landed on my feet with my supervising teacher. I could say any number of things in her praise but it would all sound like cliché so just take my word for it that she is excellent value for both me and the kids.

My lesson today went well enough but I kept the kids sitting on the floor in a group for forty minutes which is too long. Actually it is about twice the sensible limit. I guess there is a reason we need to do ninety days of this.

Lesson for the day - so far so good.

Free Speech And The Right To Silence

28 04 2005

I have said this before but I am always mildly astonished when I see people writing in their blogs have they think they can write whatever they want without consequences in their work or personal relationships. I am not talking about people who sometimes have a lapse of judgment but people who decide it is their right to not have use any judgment.

In try to keep in mind when I write stuff for this obscure little page that I don’t know who is reading and anyone could be although in all probability almost no-one is. So sometimes I remain silent on particular things and sometimes I only mention the positives. I would like to think that people I know and care about as well as any teachers, parents or students at the school I am at could read this without being either hurt, especially annoyed or left wanting to give me a massive wedgie.

Lesson for the day - life is basically an exercise in avoiding massive wedgies.

Thinking Of Mr C

27 04 2005

Mr C and The Choc

I was speaking to my sister Rad on the phone and her dog Clooney is a bit sick at the moment. He has to have more X-rays tomorrow and perhaps and operation so needless to say Rad and Andy are pretty anxious and sad about the whole business.

So best wishes to them and Mr C and, while we are at it the vets who are helping them all.

Lesson for the day - it is no good at all when someone is sick in the family.

The Miraculous Qualities Of A Bath

27 04 2005

Last night Nicky was feeling a bit how’s-your-father, which is perfectly understandable at times like these, so decided to have a bath before bed.

On top of that she slept the whole night through without any interruptions from boys or dogs.

Quite possibly as a result of these things she looked especially pretty and beautiful this morning and still looks that way this evening.

Lesson for the day - a bath can go a long way indeed.

The Second Lesson From Mark

27 04 2005

Today’s Maths lesson was about time and I think I pretty good time was had by all involved. I felt a bit bad because one of the students had been home the night before and told his mum how hard the lesson had been and how we worried about how he was doing.

Today everyone, including me, did much much better and it was quite a bit of fun.

Lesson for the day - the second time is more fun.

New Home For Charlie

26 04 2005

Son Of Ginger Cat

On Sunday when we found Charlie I walked around the street and looked for his owners but had no luck. Yesterday I put flyers in letterboxes three street is each direction but got no owners coming forward. I think it is time to assume that little Charlie was dumped around here.

Sad as it is he can’t stay with us. We have two cats and two dogs and, aside from anything else, that is the council limit and we do have quiet a bit on our plate at the moment.

So if you think you might be a good new owner for Charlie then email me. You will want to be someone we know and know to be responsible. From the little I have had to do with him he seems very sweet.

Lesson for the day - cats need homes and some people need cats.
