The Big Blue Tent at Anglesea by MarkOMeara

I am fresh back from three nights of camping and it was a lot of fun. The weather was not what I would choose but then, self important as I am, I don’t imagine that I get to choose the weather.

The wind blew and blew. I believe that only a short distance away it was measured at over 50kph. Our tents swayed and rocked but didn’t either fall down or fly away. The Big Blue Tent kept us warm and safe and didn’t let in so much as a stop of rain.

It was lovely to spend the time with Finn and I think he had a great time. It was also lovely to have Joanna along. Partially because it is nice to have adults outnumber the kids and mostly because she is bloody good company.

Lesson for the day - getting out of town is good for you.

Just in case anyone was wondering my phone did not really get blown away and I was not posting via SMS. While I am sure it is technically possible to do this I actually set up those entries to post before I left home on Thursday and just future dated them.

Lesson for the day - I can manage not to blog but I thought you might all like a little something all the same.

Lesson 4 day - should have learned to swim.

Wind quite strong now. Tents blown away. Phone blown away. Finn tied to me for safety. Sending this from Joanna’s phone.

Lesson 4 day - stay in a cabin next time.

Didn’t bring laptop so posting using SMS. Quite slow really. Camping is good. Wish the wind and and Finn would slow down.

The forecast for tomorrow says windy with rain. Now I might be used to soft living but this doesn’t sounds like great conditions to put up a tent.

All the same I am looking forward to the minor adventure of camping.

Promises of faff-free dining by gspm

A few days ago we stopped at a 7 Eleven on the way to work and I found myself singing “let’s go to the lobby and get ourselves some snacks”.

I haven’t thought of this in ages. The Jedi Master of Phaff introduced me to this little ditty which he stole from The Simpsons and then corrupted. Just singing it brings back slow corporate mornings and the joy felt when ten o’clock rolled around. Those were the days. I wouldn’t relive them but I do miss the good silly fun of it all.

In other audio visual news you can finally order Get Smart on DVD. I will be waiting since it is currently horribly expensive and you can only order it by mail from TimeLife. I am sure it will appear in shops after a while and at a less outrageous price. At this time I’m there baby.
