Photo Shoot
The kinder is having a photographer in to do family portraits as a fund-raiser. You pay your twelve bucks and you get a single family shot all framed. Of course the trick is that they present you will all these other photos they shoot and they cost between $150 and $350 as far as I can tell.
Still it strikes me as pretty reasonable anyway you look at it. Much as I do like candid and personal photos there is something nice about a family portrait. Perhaps my minor affection is because I came from a family that never had a portrait to my recollection. We were even pretty inconsistent about buying the school photos. Not that I mind, I was a pretty awful looking teenagers.
Anyhow, back to today.
I quite enjoyed having our family photos taken. It is easy to smile for the camera when you are all bunched up with people you love that much.
Lesson for the day – you can’t capture moments with a camera but you can capture something worth getting.

When dad and Barbara first got together we had a couple of big group family shots done (Barbara has lots of kids – all with their own partners/kids as well) and that was pretty fun. It’s great to look back at now – see how everyone has changed and grown.
Surrounded by loved ones, even photo shoots are nice. The posterity aspect is good too. Some day when Finn is off to college and Leila is driving off with her friends for a weekend excursion you and Nicky can look back at this family portrait and laugh about the kinder-years.
