Back when I worked for The Corporation I got utterly sick of all the change. And it didn’t seem like change to compete or change because a genuinely good idea had come along. It just came to be relentless change and when the rules and structures change every six months it becomes nearly impossible to complete a year-long task.
Here at school I feel like a small amount of change is for the sake of it but most of the change is obviously directed towards solving genuine and pressing problems. All the same when the rules and players are suddenly changed it’s like being clobbered by a fresh wave. We don’t drown but after a while I get sick of being winded and struggling back to shore again and again.
The temptation is considerable to head out for a Coke and a chocolate bar but I should be good. I have enough to feel stressed about without feeling bad about money as well.
Lesson for the day - it is good to be adaptable and also good to be stable.

When you are out of the habit of it, even small change can be quite overwhelming.
Perhaps you can bake comforting snacks? You made some good ones a couple of months ago

Sadly I have been in the habit of regular change for years and years now. It’s not that I can’t change, it’s that big changes are disruptive and I long for an imaginary past time when people just stuck to their guns and did the same things for more than a few months at a time.
