I was talking about quality dialogue with my students. And so, of course, we were also talking about terrible dialogue and I explained that this was all too easy to write. And I should know having filmed seven of my own scripts and living with the results.
As you would expect a couple of students asked if I could show some of my films. Who wouldn’t want to see their slightly gruff teacher’s crappy work? So I had a quick look last night and confirmed by suspicions. All of my original films are gone, long since throw out. There is a rough edit of one with no soundtrack and that’s it.
So all that remains of those efforts in more recent efforts which mostly consists of films about Finn and Leila. And I think this is my best work. This is the stuff I already look back on with genuine affection. Most of this is affection for the kids of course. But I am also glad to have the skills that makes these little movies possible and I can thank my back catalogue of crap for some of that.
But I figure I could show them something so I am making a copy of the Slow Motion clip above which, on a good day, I might show this class.
Lesson for the day - it’s far better to try stuff and suck now and then than to try nothing and do nothing.

I enjoyed that. I was playing Slow Motion the other day and just repeating one verse over and over, but it still rocked. Thanks for re-viewing it.
