Geocaching is “a high-tech treasure hunt for adults” – at least, that is the most succinct explanation enthusiasts can offer. A striking mix of the latest network technologies, unregulated gaming and muddy-boots bushwalking, it’s an activity that didn’t exist nine years ago.

Aha! We’ve been watching a small tub hidden near the Eastlink sound barrier with trinkets and a notebook inside. It’s regularly signed by various people, noting their ’swaps’. I’ve been wondering for months what it is. So it’s a ‘geocache’ and we ‘muggled’ it when we signed the book ourselves!
