There forecast wind would be a tail wind which just makes the whole thing easier. My experience is that is rarely rains until later in the morning. Quite aside from that, I rode in the rain yesterday and it wasn’t as bad as you’d imagine.

I used to patch tyres a bit and from what i recall you need to really rough up the tube to get it to “key” well with the adhesive, and that more is more when it comes to the adhesive. Some of our tubes used to be pretty heavily patched.

That last tube, described in the podcast, went flat too. So, I took the whole wheel into the shop for some advice. They could find nothing wrong and put in a new tube. As I gave them on of the ones I had bought as a replacement, I noticed that they were slightly different packets.

The tubes I had bought where for 28 inch wheels all right, they were just for skinnier tyres. I had been over-inflating them and they’d been weakening at the seams.

Hmmm – Perhaps I am being silly but if you go into a marriage with the idea that it may only last five years then you’ve kinda missed the point of a marriage. Certainly it takes a lot of hard work to actually make it last but if someone is *starting out* with the idea that it may not last perhaps there should be a bit more consideration… Not that this sort of thing doesn’t happen regularly anyway, it just seems like formalizing your lack certainty in the long-term viability of your relationship at the very outset is problematic on a whole different level. “Yeah, I guess I could agree to put up with you for five years but after that, we’ll have to renegotiate…”

Also (again, this may just be my own cute idea) but it seems that if in the fourth year you had to get tense wondering if your partner would want to renew then there hasn’t been enough communication all along. It seems like that should be less of a surprise then a bad review at work.

So, it might work for some people but then, lots of things that really wouldn’t work for me seem to work for some people so what do I know?

I confess that I am still snarky about poorly written television. I know it must be hard to put out a show every week, but there have a budget and a staff and silly mistakes should not be there every ten minutes.

i think i also was very snarky in my 20s about art and how much better an artist i was than almost all of humanity based on no real evidence – notably no artistic output of any description. i would now like to go back and smack myself about the head.
(although i do still have a deep-seated snarky prejudice about scrap-booking. i’m sorry, scrap-bookers … )

My track pump (stand-up pump with gauge) is the last birthday present Ed gave me – and one of the most useful I’ve every received. Nice hard tyres really make a difference.

i think if i was the english teacher i would pretend to care but really i’d be saying on the inside “break the goddamn rules. you’re only 16 once, dude!” and then i’d smoke a joint and get down to whatever the kids are listening to these days. because i’m a bit like that.
