Folk to Country Music

When I was a young man
I could not stand country music
couldn’t find a reason
didn’t like the rhyme

Many camp-fire stops
on the road to country music
across rugged mountains
in bitter winter-time

Road is so lonesome
from folk to county music
didn’t go to Texas
it musta just found me

s’bout loving too much
can be so heart-wrenching
s’about the woman
that did you wrong

Don’t have to wear a hat or
be called Randy
don’t have to bootscoot but
some slide guitar is

Road is so lonesome
from folk to county music
didn’t go to Texas
it musta just found me
